back to the drawing board

i'm not a scrapbooker - in case you hadn't noticed - but i'm going to pretend like i am one for this project. i know i'm about 6 months behind schedule on this, but i'm just proud of myself for getting it done  - well not yet done, but in progress. cover is done and first page is done, so that's definite progress. the plan: do a page each day. at this rate the mini-album will be all done some time next week. so stay tuned - i'll update with more photos as the project moves along.

it's time for another moxie fab world blog challenge - fun with fabric. this $1 wooden flower photo holder has been sitting on my craft table since i bought it two months ago. so after it fell onto the floor last night i decided it was about time i do something with it - so how about something denimish for the fun with fabric challenge. i like that the flower didn't turn out too girly - at least i don't think it did. and since i don't think it looks girly it's ok for my flower to hold  my favorite non-girly photo sent home from iraq.

i've been holding on to this project for a while, waiting until it was posted on the scenic route website. and the instructions for the frame went up today here. i used one of scenic route's newest collections, sonoma, for this frame. and i even put a picture in it! usually i make a frame and it just sits there without anything in it. no school tomorrow - i'm gonna go to my storage unit and search for a missing box of books. now that i have a bigger place i have room for all of my books. i unpacked the last two boxes this week, scanned everything into delicious library, and then discovered that my anne rice and jane austen books are missing.

i painted a wood frame with a silver ranger paint dabber,
then added some queen & co felt and few buttons.
it was a super quick to make.  

finally i get a break. i've been crazy busy getting kids ready for their midterms. i haven't had much free time the past week, but i did squeeze in some time to make this frame. i started with an unfinished wood frame i found at michael's, painted it silver and then added the embellishments. the silver painting turned out pretty well, it actually looks like the frame is metal. also finished all of my thank-you cards, or so i thought. a couple of kids surprised me with a gift after break, so still gotta make a few more.

so i've moved over here to typepad. i like the look of this blog better than my other one over at blogger. i'm gonna keep the old one up but move all of my projects over here and put them into photo albums.

and my first project of the year - every month scenic route has a challenge to on their website and if they choose your project to put up on their website they send you free stuff. they've chosen mine a few times (last month i made a picture frame) and here's what i came up with over the weekend. i found this snowflake at a.c. moore for like a dollar. and this is one of my favorite pictures of sara. it was taken two winters ago during a big snow storm we had right before christmas.
