just a bunch of die cuts for my project today. each little element was die cut from a piece of mixed media paper that i added color to with either ink or pigment power. gold metallic ink for the wheat stalks - green mica spray ink for the leaves - brown distress ink & mica spray ink for the acorn - orange pigment powder & water for the jar - gray/black spray ink for the sign & border.

i recently finished stitching the autumn whirligig design by heart in hand - these designs are super quick to stitch. over the summer i decided i wanted to frame the whirligig series in a tim holtz assemblage clock - but it took me a while to get started painting the clock. i used a set of verday paints that i've had for several years - i bought the paints a way long time ago when i saw a one of these clocks painted with them at the queen's ink in maryland. the paints were super easy to use & i let each coat dry for several days before adding to it. i've already stitched the summer whirligig & plan on switching out the design for each season. up next - winter!

a couple of little cross stitch designs i recently completed. these are both pine mountain designs kits that i've had for a while - they stitch up quickly & come with the frames. an in progress photo of the little owl is over here on instagram.

i have one more card to share that i created for the taylored expressions september release. this card features the new little bits - fall harvest die set & the new door to door fall decor die set. i also used three of the new te premium ink colors - dijon, sweet basil & mulled wine.


i inked up the background with an ink blending tool - the dijon & sweet basil inks blended together nicely. then i assembled all of the little die cuts to create a simple fall scene. lastly i added a sentiment from the previously released c'mon get happy sentiment set.

this week another challenge went up on the share joy challenge blog. i decided to use the top row of the tic tac toe board as a starting off point for my card - die cut pumpkins & a watercolor background. you have until noon pdt on wednesday, 10/21 to participate in this week's challenge.


i started with the background & used a couple of colors from the ken oliver crafts color burst collection to create the sky and grass. then i pulled out my taylored expressions picket fence border die & cut a fence from some wood grain patterned paper. next i used two of the new stitched circle stacklets dies to cut out the layered circles.


the two little pumpkins were die cut from orange patterned paper scraps with the pumpkin die from the little bits - halloween scene die set & the vines hanging off of them were die cut with a die from the arbor accessories die set. i just snipped off a couple of pieces to use for the vines. and then to finish it up i added a sentiment from the c'mon get happy sentiment stamp set.

today's projects are autumn themed & first up is a card created with the new door to door die set. this set comes with the door, steps, door knob & the little rectangles to give the door a beveled look. a coordinating die set called door to door decor comes with several doors to decorate your front door scene. 


to create the look of siding for the background i embossed a white piece of cardstock with the previously released bead board embossing folder. and the fall wreath - the base was die cut with a die from the door to door decor set & decorated with a bunch of leaves die cut the with the new little bits - leaves set. 

next up is this turkey from the if turkeys could talk stamp & die combo. he joins the previously released if cats could talk & if dogs could talk stamp & die combos. this new stamp set comes with several different faces & lots of sentiment stamps of which a few are sized to fit inside his sign.


i paper pieced this guy with lots of scraps & then used the coordinating die to cut around the entire image. he's standing in front of prairie grass that was embossed with the new prairie embossing folder.

the card i'm sharing today features a new in & out sentiment stamp set - in & out thanks. i had one of my besties in mind when i made this card - when crumbs bake shop was still around we would frequent it often. this guy here is ready to eat his cupcake with a fork i die cut using the new die set bon appetit. and that strip of stars - it was cut with a die from the skinny mini borders die set.


and here's a view of the inside of my card. the in & out thanks stamp set is designed so that the sentiment on the outside of the card can be carried through to the inside.

my next project for today is a potion bottle decorated for an autumn treat. i embossed a strip of toffe cardstock with the new burlap embossing folder & then used the new napkin ring craft die to create a label for my bottle of m&ms. i left off the center label die cut so that the candy peaks through behind the leaf and acorn - they were cut with dies that are part of the new tag-a-long autumn die set. the little acron was also embossed with the burlap embossing folder and the leaf was embossed with the scattered leaves embossing folder.

today is day 2 of the taylored expressions november release sneak peeks & i have a couple of autumn themed cards to share. also, don't forget you have another chance to win a giveaway over on the te blog.


this autumn themed tag here shows off a bunch of new products for this month. the tag base & label die cuts are part of a new die set called build a tag 1 - other die sets will be released in the future with new tag shapes. the pumpkin was stamped with an image from the new rubber stamp set tag-a-long autumn - which also has coordinating dies - and works well with the build a tag die set. and lastly, a couple of new cardstock colors appear on the this tag - dijon & sweet basil.


the back of my tag has a little paper pieced acorn that is also part of the tag-a-long autumn set. and one of my favorite die sets being released this month is called skinny mini borders - i used one of the border dies to create the strip of 'grass' for the acron to sit on. also, the to/from sentiment is from the small packages rubber stamp sentiment set - i used this sentiment set yesterday on my gift card tin project & it shows up again tomorrow and thursday as well.

and my card for today features the new craft die set that coordinates with the previously released rubber stamp set a bushel & a peck. the new sweet basil cardstock makes another appearance & this time i embossed it with the new scattered leaves embossing folder.




lots of paper piecing happened on this card. i stamped the pumpkins & leaves onto several scraps of patterned papers then cut them all out & pieced them together. the little tub was stamped onto patterned paper & then layered on top of the die cut i made using the new coordinating dies. and that gray cardstock - it is new and is called poppy seed.

i have one more taylored expressions card to share this month before the november new release posts go up next week. my card is a simple fall/thanksgiving themed card that could easily work for anytime of year - just swap out the pumpkin for another small image.

i started with the little bits - halloween scene set & die cut a pumpkin from felt. then i added the hand stitching & paired it with a sentiment from the falling for you stamp set. the woodgrain labels shapes were die cut using dies from the label stacklets 7 set.

this month brings a couple new additions to the sack it collection - here i used the new sack it - scarecrow die set to create a fall themed mini card. and i used the largest die from the tag stacklets 2 to create the card base.


my scarecrow's card base is cardstock - but the rest of him was put together using several colors of te 100% wool felt. his hat, eyes, nose & mouth were all die cut - and i added several thin strips of "straw" that you see sticking out of his hat.

and today's second card is uses the new you've been framed - christmas die set along with the new ice border die that i used with the new cardstock color salt water taffy and another of the new embossing folders winter flurry. also the winter sentiment is part of the previously released woodland winter stamp set.



for my card base i wanted just a bit of embossing - so i positioned the card base so that just the bottom righ corner was inside the embossing folder. with most of the card base sticking out of the folder it wouldn't fit through my ancient cuttlebug - but it did fit perfectly through the accuquilt i use for sewing. i die cut the mug of hot chocolate a few extra times and used the extra little hearts as steam.

today i have a simple canvas that went up on the jane's doodles blog. the pumpkin is a free digital image - which you can download here - that i resized to about 4-inches wide and printed onto a page torn from an old book. then i used spray ink to paint it - like i did on this card a few days ago. before cutting out the pumpkin i glued the paper to a thin sheet of cardboard to make it a bit more sturdy - this step probably wouldn't be necessary if you are just making a card.
