back to the drawing board

given the wicked hot weather this week i thought a snowman would be fun. stamps, dies & stencil are all part of the frosty kit from taylored expressions. for the background i used a light gray distress ink & then when i stenciled the snowflakes with a light blue dye ink they reacted a bit. so the snowflakes ended up being a teal color. an accident - but i like the color the snowflakes ended up.

howdy! i made this card earlier this year & sent it off to celebrate a birthday. you can see the birthday sentiment peeking out from inside the card. paper piecing with cardstock scraps & an ink blended background behind the die cut mountains.

at the beginning of summer i pulled out my stack of unframed cross stitch projects - there were 13 plus one that needs a new frame. so i've been framing & framing & framing. here are the first four i tackled. the top two will share a frame - i'll swap the birdhouse with the little schoolhouse looking dwelling this fall. the bottom left also shares a frame with an autumn themed project that's been residing in the frame for a few years. and the patriotic project i stitched way back in the late 90's i think - it was/is a free chart from lizzie kate that was just rereleased this year.

hello from my cat in space - a card i created for the july taylored expressions maker challenge. this month the challenge was to use stars and/or the color black. the large star in the background was die cut from white cardstock that i inked up with a few different shades of gray. my space cadet cat was stamped onto several scraps of patterned paper & pieced together. i also added glossy accents to the cat's helmet to give it a bit of dimension.

over the past several months i've made a few project bags to help organize my never ending stack of unfinished projects. all four of these bags have a vinyl front - so the main fabric you see on the front is actually the inside fabric. i fllowed the fat quarter shop project bag tutorial for the largest bag & then modified it for the smaller bags. the largest bag will hold quilt blocks up to about 15 inches & the smallest bag holds pens.

the smallest & most recently finished is my favorite of the bunch - it measures about 7" square. i had fun with the quilting on the inside - it looks like lined paper. the horizontal lines are light blue and then there are two pink vertical lines along the left side.
