it's been a really long time - since like summer of 2014 long time - since i made a project for tim holtz 12 tags challenge. i had some extra time this weekend so i made an atc inspired by the tim holtz 12 tags of 2016 - april tag. i followed tim's technique tutorials for the resist background & the mosaic tree. this was my first go at using the mosaic kit & i like the fun look it gives to the die cuts - i'm going to keep the kit out on my desk so i don't forget about it!

today i am sharing a clean & simple card i created with a few taylored expressions craft dies & wool felt. several members of the creative team are creating cards featuring felt this week & there will be a round up on the te blog this weekend.


i used several die sets from the little bits collection & even though the die cuts are fairly small the wool felt still held together very well. the only die cut that was a bit fragile was the flower stem - but once it was glued down it was good to go. using felt instead of patterned paper for the die cuts brought added interest & dimension to the simple design.

today is april release day over at taylored expressions - all of the new products we've been sharing sneak peeks of this week are now available in the te shop.

today i am sharing a card i created with a few of the new sewing themed products. inside the embroidery hoop die cut i created a little scene with the new little bits - buttons die set & the new little bits - needle & thread die set. and the sentiment is from the new stitch by stitch 2 stamp set.


to create the design for the background i used the new quilted cutting plate. i cut the quilted design from white cardstock then used the circle die from the embroidery hoop set to cut out just the middle of the quilted die cut. to complete the background i layered the die cut on a simple flower patterned paper.

my first card for today is my favorite this month - that monkey graduate is from the new grad grumplings stamp & die combo. and he is standing on top of a new congrats script sentiment die cut.


as usual i paper pieced my grumpling with a bunch of scraps. and since he is a couple of layers thick of patterned paper i stacked a few 'congrats' die cuts to give the sentiment the same amount of dimension. the little streamers were cut with dies from the previously released little bits - champagne flutes set - or, the little bits - celebration confetti die set would work well too.

and my second card for today would also work well for a graduate or for someone heading off on a new adventure. the little guy & the airplane were created with the new sky high - airplane die set. the die set coordinates with the previously released sky high - sentiments stamp set. also new this month & that coordinate with the stamp set are the sky high - kites & sky high - rocket die sets.


i used various scraps of patterned papers & te premium cardstocks to create the scene. and with all the little pieces i made sure to apply an adhesive sheet piece to each scrap before die cutting the pieces.

my first friendship card of the day features a new matching die set for the previously released rosy posey stamp set - so now the stamp set has two matching die sets. i also used the new rosy posey embossing folder that coordinates with the stamp set.


i heat embossed the leaves then did a bit of simple watercoloring with two shades of green distress ink. and along the side i added a strip of cardstock that was embossed with the rosy posey embossing folder.

my second friendship card for today features two new die sets - bloomin' stacklets 3 & bloomin' accessories. also new is the sentiment i used which appears in the newest addition to the simply stamped collection - simply stamped - peonies.


to add a bit of dimension to my card i die cut the flower 3 times & stacked the patterned paper die cut atop a couple of yellow cardstock die cuts. the button & leaves die cuts were both cut with dies from the bloomin' accessories set which coordinates with all of the bloomin' stacklets die sets.

the first card i am sharing today was created with a new addition to the te cross stitch themed stamps - stitch by stitch 2. this set has all occasion/friendship sentiments as well as a mother's day sentiment. also new on my card are those tiny little flower sequins - they are from the new rainbow brights flower sequins.


the scene i created has just two layers - the house & sentiment were stamped first. then i added the grass border from the build a scene - calendar die set & finally the little flowers. the stems for the flowers were created with a die from the little bits - beach umbrella die set.

up next is a cheerful card i created with the new stacked coffee mugs die set & the new some like it hot sentiment set. also new - but not on my card - is the stacked teacups die set that also coordinates well with the some like it hot sentiment set.


the stacked coffee mugs die set comes with a die for the stacked mugs & also dies to create pieces to layer behind each mug. i cut the stacked mugs from white cardstock & then cut the pieces to layer behind the mugs from colorful cardstocks. the little heart was leftover from one of my projects from last month & fit perfectly onto the top mug.
