today is day 3 of our taylored expressions october release sneak peeks - tomorrow all of the new christmas & winter themed products will be available for purchase in the te shop at 7am pdt. also, don't forget that today you have one more chance to win a release week giveaway over on the te blog.




my first card for today features the newest beauty lies within die set - beauty lies within 3. this trio of dies is winter themed & can be used for everyday themed cards as well as holiday cards or projects. my card also shows off one of the two new embossing folders - holly embossing folder.


i started off with a panel of white cardstock, stamped the sentiment then embossed with the embossing folder. next i die cut the cardinal scene from the embossed panel &  from red cardstock. before adhering the embossed panel & red die cut circle to the card front i added a bit of blended distress ink to the lower right corner so that it would show through from behind the cardinal. lastly, i die cut the hanging ornament pieces using the new ornament accessories die set to create the hanging ornament.



my second card for today is a fun 'missing you' winter themed shaker card. i used the previously released baby, it's cold outside stamp set - the coordinating die set is part of the october release. i also used several patterned papers from the new build a scene christmas 6x6 paper pack along with the new build a scene christmas sequins - i pulled out a bunch of the snowflakes for my shaker. 


the snow globe shaker was created with the previously released snow globe stamp & the coordinating die set. i used white craft foam to create depth for the snowflake sequins & paper pieced the the snowman that's hanging out in the snow globe.

today is sneak peek day 2 of our taylored expressions october release which will be available for purchase on thursday, october 1st at 7am pdt. also, don't forget that today you have another chance to win a release week giveaway over on the te blog.


first up is a gift tag i created with the new roly poly - rudolph die set. he joins a snowman, santa & a penguin as the first die sets in the new roly poly collection. these die sets come with all the pieces needed to make a fun tag atop a 3-inch circle base. also new this month is the stitched circle stacklets - i used a stitched circle die to create my rudolph tag base.


inside my rudolph tag i stamped a sentiment from the new sentiment set special delivery. and the little santa hat is one of the shapes that is part of the new little bits - christmas confetti die set. i used a white pigment ink pen to add the trim & a pom-pom.


my next card features a happy holidays scene framed by the new picture perfect - vertical die set. the starting point for my scene was the new little bits - 'tis the season die set. it comes with the little car die along with the tree for the top and even a die with a couple of little tires. the trees off in the background are from the new build a scene - winter trees die set. and a couple of patterns from the new build a scene christmas 6x6 paper pack make an appearance today.  


inside the card is a sentiment from the new in & out christmas stamp set. it joins several previously released in & out sentiment stamp sets that come with lots of sentiments for both the inside & outside of cards. and at the bottom of the inside of the card i built a little snowman using the new little bits - snowman die set.

today begins our taylored expressions october sneak peeks! this month the release is full of christmas & winter themed rubber stamps & craft dies. all new products will be available for purchase on thursday, october 1st at 7am pdt. and be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for details about the october release giveaways.


my first card for today features the newest addition to the simply stamped collection. this new set is called simply stamped - pinecones & works well for either christmas or winter themed projects. the stamp set has 3 different sized sets of pinecone stamps, some greenery & several holiday & winter themed sentiments.


each pinecone was stamped four times - each layer with a different stamp & a different shade of brown. then, the final layer was stamped with embossing ink & heat embossed with white embossing powder - so each pinecone has a nice dusting of 'snow'. the die cut for the red bow is one of the dies in the simply stamped - pinecones coordinating die set & i gave it good coating of glitter.



next up is a winter themed card i created with the newest addition to the garden arbor collection - holiday arbor accessories. i also used the new build a scene christmas 6x6 paper pack & a sentiment from the previously released baby, it's cold outside stamp set.


my entire winter scene was built with die cuts & came together very quickly. i used the previously released build a scene - rolling hills for the snowy hill & added a few snowflakes that i die cut with the new little bits - snowflake confetti set. the snowflake patterned paper worked perfectly for the background & is one of my favorite patterns in the build a scene christmas 6x6 paper pack.

my pinterest inspired project for the month of september was inspired by a fun halloween card created by shelly mercado that was pinned over on the taylored expressions pinterest boards.


shelly created an awesome background on this card & the die cuts that she cut from black cardstock pop right off of it.


my background was created with a bit of color burst powder & water. i sprayed a piece of watercolor paper with water then applied a bit of powder directly from the bottle. not all of the powder dissolved in the water which created the really dark splotches. so that the undissolved powder would not rub off i applied a thin layer of micro glaze over the entire background. then i die cut my scene & stitched down the border with a bit of machine stitching.

this month my taylored expressions die focus project features the mason jar & lid die which i used to hold my pile of apples stacklets die cuts. then i found the perfect sentiment to go along with my apples from the falling for you stamp set.


i die cut the apples with the smallest die from the apple stacklets set from white cardstock & also from patterned paper. i colored the stem & leaves on the white cardstock die cuts & trimmed off the stem & leaves on the patterned paper die cuts. then adhered each patterned paper apple to a white cardstock apple. the mason jar is about 2 1/2 inches tall - so it will perfectly hold lots of smaller die cut shapes.

it has been quite a while since i've participated in any contests or submitted any cards for publication. but my favorite things has a card contest happening right now so i decided to give it a shot.

this halloween character is one of my favorite mft stamps - he's from the trick or treat set. he's mostly paper pieced with a bit of coloring for the black stripes. i added some glitter to his gray boots & even a bit to his tiny paper pieced teeth. i have him standing in front of a brick wall i inked with the mft brick wall stencil & distress ink. the spider hanging out there was glitterized & then i used a white pen to make his eyes pop a bit.
