today begins our taylored expressions september sneak peeks. this month is taylored expressions 7th birthday & we begin the week with projects featuring several of new birthday themed stamps, dies & embossing folders. then later in the week we will feature several new fall & thanksgiving themed new products. all new products will be available for purchase on thursday, september 3rd at 7am pdt. and be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for details about the september release giveaways.


my first birthday card features the new sentiment stamp set another year older & the new stamp set balloon buddies. you also get a peek of two new patterned paper designs from the new hello happiness 6x6 paper pack & a new embossing folder. 


the little doggie was paper pieced with some scraps i had on my desk, but his balloon is one of the new patterned paper designs. after he was paper pieced onto white cardstock i used the balloon buddies coordinating dies to die cut around the entire image. and the card base - it was embossed with the new take a number embossing folder.



my second birthday card for today is all die cutting & embossing on the outside. i used the new block party - happy craft die to die cut the card base & another new patterned paper design from the hello happiness 6x6 paper pack. then the patterned paper die cut was layered atop the card base & below it the white cardstock was embossed with the new graphic impressions - birthday embossing folder. and the gray streamer - it is one of the new dies from the skinny mini party borders set.


on the inside of my card the 'happy birthday' sentiment was stamped with a stamp from the another year older sentiment set. then i added the new little bits - ice cream sundae die cut & topped it off with a candle from the previously released little bits - cake & stand set. also, two new cardstock colors are being released this month which i used for the ice cream die cuts - mint julep & pink champagne.

my pinterest inspired project for the month of august was inspired by a fun birthday card created by pam sparks that was pinned over on the taylored expressions pinterest boards.


i love the blue watercolored waves behind the lighthouse on pam's card & created a similar look on my birthday card.


i added a bit of water to blue distress ink then applied it to a watercolor cardstock panel. after it was dry i assembled the die cut scene - the 'grass' border was created with the rainbow scallop border & the lighthouse is a little bits die.

this month my taylored expressions die focus project features the spooky fence border die which i used as the starting point for my spooky little scene. the starry background was die cut with the starry night cutting plate & my paper pieced jack o' lantern is a stamp from the critters in costume set.


before cutting the spooky fence i embossed a piece of poppy seed cardstock with the woodgrain embossing folder - then die cut the fence from the embossed cardstock. the starry background was cut from patterned paper that is layered atop a piece of watercolor cardstock that was painted yellow with spray ink. and one last detail, those teeth on the jack o' lantern - i used a bit of white enamel accents.

these guys were up on the echo park paper blog last week. to create the cards i used the a pirate's life collection kit & the coordinating designer dies. on the blog here is a tutorial showing how i used a couple of cloud die cuts & pigment ink to create the cloud background.

taylored expressions august release day is today - all of the new products we've been sharing sneaks of this week are now available in the te shop. my card today features a new addition to the tag-a-long collection - tag-a-long - halloween along with a few other new products.


the pumpkin & spider were both paper pieced with patterned papers from the new build a scene halloween 6x6 paper pack. the arched opening was die cut with a die from the new build a tag 5 set & was cut from poppy seed cardstock that was embossed with the new weathered embossing folder.

today is day 3 of the taylored expressions august release sneak peeks - tomorrow all of the new products will be available in the te shop at 7am pdt. also, don't forget that today you have one more chance to win a giveaway over on the te blog.


it's halloween again today & first up is a set of ghost tags i created with the newest addition to the build a tag collection - build a tag 5. when i saw the shape of the tag die for this set i instantly thought of a ghost. for the eyes i pulled out a few die sets from the sack it collection. the eyes for the orange ghost are from the sack it - pumpkin set, the eyes for the purple ghost are from the sack it - pig set & the eyes for the green ghost are from the new sack it - spider set.


inside each tag i stamped a sentiment from the new eventful - halloween sentiment set. i added a couple of little die cuts to complete the inside - the witch's hat is one of the die cuts from the new little bits - halloween confetti set & the spider is from the previously released little bits - halloween scene set.

next up is another project i created with the new eventful - halloween sentiment set & the previously released rsvp stamp. the eventful - halloween stamp set is the newest addition to the eventful collection and coordinates with a halloween border being released this month.


i had a sneek peak of shelly's august release projects a couple of weeks ago & one of her cards uses the ice border released last fall - it works perfectly for dripping goo or blood! to finish off my invite i added a sequin bat from the new build a scene halloween sequins & a little spider from the new little bits - halloween confetti die set.

today is sneak peek day 2 of the taylored expressions august release which will be available for purchase on thursday, august 7th at 7am pdt. also, don't forget that today you have another chance to win a giveaway over on the te blog.


my first card for today features three new products:

1. free spirit - a new sentiment set with a fun brush stroke font
2. follow your arrow - a new craft die set with several arrows in different sizes
3. southwest cutting plate - the newest addition to the cutting plate collection

to create the jar of arrows i first die cut the jar with the little bits - mason jar die. i wanted the arrows to actually look like they are in the jar, so i die cut the bottom two thirds of three arrows from the jar so that i could inlay three of the arrow die cuts. then i added the die cut lid & a bit of embroidery floss.



next up is a card i created with the new simply stamped - daisies set & the coordinating dies. this stamp set is the second addition to the simply stamped collection which features stamps designed for multi-step stamping.


i went with a coral color combo for my daises & i learned that with some dye inks you need to let each layer dry completely before stamping the next. otherwise you might end up with all 3 colors blending together into one mid-tone color. after stamping the daises i added several little dots of glossy accents to each center.
