today is the last day of the taylored expressions april sneak peeks - all the new stamps & craft dies will be available for purchase in the te shop tomorrow at 7am pdt - & don't forget to visit the te blog for giveaway details.
my first project for today shows off the stroke of genius & sunshiny day stamp sets & a sentiment from the when your heart speaks set. and the frame i used is currently available in the te shop.
to create the background & 'color' the stamped images i used a stamp from the stroke of genius set which features several different paint brush strokes in various sizes. to 'color' the images i stamped a brush stroke onto a scrap piece of cardstock & then stamped over it with the owl, cloud & hearts images which i then cut out by hand.
my second project for today features the new die spotted cutting plate & a sentiment from the new stamp set a life she loved. i had to run the cutting plate through my die cut machine a few times to create the background for this card.
first step was to die cut the white portion of the background - or the positive piece. then i made a couple more die cuts for the 'negative' pieces - so for all the circles. i just used strips of the colored cardstock & cut the red, yellow & blue at once then the remaining colors next. then i pieced it all together on a scrap piece of printer paper, cut out the portion for the sentiment & adhered the pieces to the card base.

Loverly! Wonderful idea for a graduate gift -- untraditional but with a hint of the traditional, small enough to take with them to college, a bit of home but not too dorky for the dorm room -- perfect!
