back to the drawing board: March 2014

today is day 1 of the taylored expressions april release sneak peek posts. this month there a 10 new stamp sets & 8 new craft dies/die sets - and everything will be available for purchase on thursday, april 3rd at 7am pst. and be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for details on a giveaway.

my first sneak peek features the new stamp sets care & comfort II and sketched blooms along with the new craft die set various vases. care & comfort II is a stamp set that features heartfelt sentiments - so i kept my card design pretty simple.

to add a bit of interest to the card - while still keeping the main focus on the sentiment - i used a strip of cork 'paper' along the bottom & added a twine bow to the vase.

my second card features the new craft die silhouette stems 4 & a sentiment from the sketched blooms stamp set. oh and the mini mix & match bows craft die set also makes an appearance.

i'm still liking the look of stacked die cuts - here i cut the silhouette stem 3 times from white cardstock & once from green. the bottom two layers are white, the next layer is green & the top layer i trimmed off the stems & just used the white flowers.

i have one more card to share using the march taylored expressions stamp of the month - take a spin. not much to this card - just some stamping, die cutting & then a few wood veneer circles to finish it off.

to create the circle's interior i stamped once with gray, again with yellow & then die cut both stamped images & pieced it all together. the sentiment was stamped in blue on scrap piece of cardstock, die cut & then put in place to finish off the circle's interior. with the die cuts you will have enough to make the circle's interior twice - so two cards for the work of one.

for my taylored expressions die focus assignment this month i created a quick 'hello' card using the dial in style craft die set. the die set comes with a few separate dies that can be used to create all the cuts needed to piece together this vintage looking phone.

so that the phone die cut would not seem so flat compared to the wood veneer sentiment i die cut each piece of the phone a few times - once from patterned paper & then a couple of times from white cardstock. then i pieced it all together & added the the wood veneer circle to match the sentiment.

today i have a card to share that i created for the taylored expressions march stamp of the month blog hop. the stamp set for march is called take a spin which can be paired with the coordinating die set called spin it to win it. for my card today i also used the march key ingredients kit.

one of the stamps in the set features a row of little circles filled with icons - i used the stamp several times with various ink colors then die cut all the little circles. after i photographed the card i realized i should have die cut some extra circles & stacked them under some of the stamped images to add a bit of dimension to the card.

taylored expressions march release day is today - all the new products we've been sharing sneaks of this week are now available in the te shop. the card i'm sharing today features the new in flight cutting plate & in flight overlays as well as a sentiment from the big bold thanks stamp set.

the cutting plate creates a cut that is 5 1/4-inches by 4-inches which i trimmed down a bit for my card front. then i die cut a bunch of butterflies with the overlay dies and layered them atop the butterflies that i popped up.

today is the final day of the taylored expressions march sneak peeks - all the new stamps & craft dies will be available for purchase in the te shop tomorrow at 7am pst - & don't forget to visit the te blog for giveaway details.

my first hello card for today shows off the trixie stamp set which is the newest addition to the pawsitively purrfect series - a concept by jen shults. i also used the hello frame from the new pockets & pages die set fab frames.

this card is an easily mailable card - trixie, the orange background and the blue frame are all one layer - just a bit of creative die cutting. i popped up the heart ballon just a bit but the card still fits nicely into an envelope.

my second hello card for today features another new pockets & pages die set - circle words. this card has a bit more dimension to it - the gray-green lined paper & the striped circle are one layer - then i popped up the sentiment with a stack of die cuts.

similar to my card yesterday i stacked a set of die cuts - this time i used pink cardstock to add a bit more interest. the hello is actually attached to the circle when die cut - so i just snipped it off after each cut & then stacked them.
