back to the drawing board

after making this card for the purple onion designs blog it was the requested for the october issue of scrapbook trends magazine. i have two more recently published halloween projects to share, but those will have to wait 'til tomorrow. i've got a halloween party to get to!

another star ornament to add to my collection. the first one appeared last christmas, and then made it into the scrapbook trends holiday idea book. next was the second one which popped up this summer around the 4th of july. and with halloween just a few days away i figured it was a good time to make the third one. for those that are interested - i was just at michael's and noticed that they are selling these 6-inch already painted wood ornaments again this year. just might have to buy myself a few more so i can make the fourth one, and the fifth one, and...

...and i surprisingly won this time?!?! i didn't post this earlier this week because i totally didn't expect to win, so i was just gonna hold on to it and then put it up after i had posted all of my autumn themed projects. oh, and i actually did get a chance to finish another halloween project today, so that'll be up tomorrow. back to the unity challenge - we had to make a card only using the colors pink & brown, and one more thing...it had to have a masculine feel to it as well. in my case guitar = masculine. there is just one more week of unity challenges - this last challenge is a halloween themed one. check it out here.

...and i have no new halloween projects to share. so another autumn themed one will have to do. i do have a halloween one in progress, and another on the drawing board. i'm trying really hard to find the time to get at least one of them done before saturday. i do have a nice stock pile of christmas cards to share though, but it's  way too early to start posting those.

finally autumn has arrived in ny. some time last week all of the leaves changed without me even noticing. as for what i put together this weekend - this blog post was the inspiration for my background on this framed piece. at first i had just one patterned paper for the background. but that was kind of boring. so i cut up 2 different patterned papers into rectangles and pieced them together for the background. not quite as boring as it was originally.

the tombstone shape makes another appearance here on this card that i made for purple onion designs. to get this look stamp the halloween noteblock image onto grey cardstock with black distress ink. bhen emboss with clear embossing powder. next cut out the tombstone shape from part of the stamped image. super quick and easy. and that ghost - he's been in my pile of halloween embellishments for like 4 years.
