back to the drawing board

today we went on an adventure to explore a sketchy path that i thought might lead to a dead body. turns out it just led to a well picked over skeleton.

as i was running the trail through the woods yesterday i noticed drag marks that went off the trail and out into the deep woods. looked a little creepy, like someone dragged a body out there, so of course R was willing to go exploring with me this morning. we gathered our undercover gear in case we ran in to a bad guy - me my camera and R and her bird. yes her bird, it has a cool backpack it rides in. (don't worry dad. i took a pocket knife along too.) and then off we went. along the trails we walked until we got to the drag marks. time to get out the camera, and head off in to the woods to find the body.  well not far after we left the trail, seriously like 30 seconds, we discovered this...

damn. it's just a bike trail. (that's a bike track and a piece of wood.) well that was kind of boring. no dead body. oh well. so we kept walking hoping to find something exciting and we discovered these...
now i'm no expert on the woods, but i'm pretty sure that this is not normal. why in the hell would someone make this bridge thingy way in the heck out here? now that is kind of sketchy. maybe there is something out here worth discovering. we kept walking and eventually ended up at a field with a grazing deer. boring.

so we retraced our steps out of the woods and back to the trail. then walking along the trail, which i've down almost every day the past 3 weeks, we discovered these...

whoa! where did these guys come from? they were everywhere. and where is J when i need him. i want to know what these things taste like. he'd eat it. well it gets better. like i said i'm always on these trails. we keep walking and we discover a bench. what in the hell is a bench doing in the woods? it was a nice bench too. that's when R says, watch this is where it gets all twilight zoney. the bench probably has a plaque on it in memory of us. well luckily it didn't, but while sitting on the bench we noticed another sketchy trail. sweet. another body! so we walked, and walked, and walked, until where our woods meet up with the Rockefeller woods (we think). along the way we discovered this awesome wanna be porcupine tree...

thunderstorms were starting to roll in and C had called and was worried about us, so we decided it was time to make our way out of the woods and back home. well that was a nice adventure wasn't it. we'll have to do this again soon. now remember how i said we didn't find any bodies? well what we did discover on our way out of the woods was definitely not a body...

the deadline for newest challenge over at the moxie fab blog was yesterday. i wasn't really planning on participating in this one, but after i got home from the titanic exhibit yesterday i didn't have much to do except clean out my cat's litter box, so i decided to see what i could come up with. the challenge was themed "go green", so i decided to make an ornament out of the plastic packaging that so many scrapbooking supplies come in. and i bought this unity stamp co. stamp a month or two ago because julie campbell made this awesome card with it a while back. i put the two together, along with a bunch of scraps, and came up with this ornament. the tree and flowers that were stamped and cut out are glued on top of the plastic which can kind of be seen in the pic on the right. and i couldn't really use paper for the grass so i opted for green acrylic paint.

july project #1 for purple onion designs. no real story for this card except that this summer weather wise has been the best summer since i moved to ny. i think it has been humid all of 2 days this summer. now there was a lot of rain in june, but the past couple of weeks have totally made up for it.

spent this afternoon out in the yard taking some pics for the photography class i'm taking this summer. so as soon as we go out in the yard i let her run around a bit and then bride her with a treat to sit down in the grass. as soon as she gets all settled our neighbor J comes out and she has to run and say hi to him. so then i get her settled down again and guess who comes walking up the road - her favorite neighbors R & D. and then a few minutes after that C drives up. what the heck?! why must every one decide to come outside when i'm trying to get her to sit still?

on wednesday i stumbled across a unity stamp company challenge and i had just a couple of hours before it ended. so i tried to quickly put something together for it, but it turned out pretty plain and boring. so i took it apart and came up with this card yesterday. obviously too late to enter it in the challenge, but that's ok, i like how it turned out.

for my bday this year drk made me a picture frame. so i couldn't not make him something for his bday. i found this guitar pencil holder at the craft store a while ago and just got around to doing something with it - 3 days before his bday. i tried to use wire for strings, but it looked funny. so instead i wound a bit of wire around those top things that stick out - idk what they are called. and you can't see it in the picture, but on the box part that is painted black - i stamped it with a collage stamp. you can see it pretty well up close.
