back to the drawing board

no school today! one nice thing about living on the east coast is we have some extra holidays. we also have off next thursday, and then the monday after that. i finally feel like i'm almost caught up with everything. i'm even caught up with most of my tv shows. the list this year includes army wives, true blood, entourage, gossip girl, one tree hill, and prison break. oh and i heard dexter started again. hopefully they'll put each episode on itunes. and i need to buy seaon 2 of heroes so that i can start watching it again. here's a card i made last nite. i just used up a bunch of scraps that were laying on my desk. i really like the yellow paper. i didn't even know i had it until i came upon it the other nite.

last nite i was flipping thru the october issue of paper crafts magazine and i noticed that they used this project as a preview for next months issue. the next issue comes out in like a week, so i figured i'd just post the project now. it was super easy to make. i found the red bucket at target in the dollar spot. then i cut out the tree from scenic route paper, glued on some buttons, and tied on all the scraps of ribbon. if you see it in the magazine you'll notice their are only a few ribbons. but i like it better this way.

and in other news, my craft room has to undergo a renovation. one of the windows, well actually the window sill, leaks a lot when it rains. i guess its been going on for a long time. well they put in a new window a few years ago, but that wasn't the problem. now it's gotten bad, so they ripped out part of the wall and figured out that it's coming from the roof. so now a roofer has to come and fix the roof. then they'll tear out the wall between my craft room and bedroom, let it dry out, and then rebuild it. so my awesome craft space is gonna be a mess for a while. i guess that's what happens when you live in a building built over 100 years ago. 

it's still a month away, halloween that is, but this is one of my most favoritist cards i've ever made. it's in this months issue of paper crafts magazine. the back of the card base is a piece of cardstock, and the front is a transparency. the purple spider web is a cool rub-on from hambly screen prints. and it's hard to tell in the photo, but the spider is actually metal. i'm about finished with my projects for the purple onion creative team call. i'm gonna email those off this weekend, but i can't post them until after she chooses the team. as for school, the next 2 days are jam packed full of sports. powder puff football tomorrow nite, and then friday nite it's girls soccer, football, and coffe house - in that order. oh and there has been a coyote roaming the quad in the evenings. it's gonna be fun walking through the woods after the footbal games. maybe i should drive instead of walking.

i painted a wood frame with a silver ranger paint dabber,
then added some queen & co felt and few buttons.
it was a super quick to make.  

 i started this way back at the beginning of the summer. and i've been moving it around on my desk since then. so i finally decided to finish putting it together tonite. the canvas is 8x10 i think. i cut the flowers out of patterned paper by glitz designs. actually all of the papers used are from glitz. the butterfly is a tiny chipboard piece and all of the stitching was done by hand.

i got an email earlier this week saying that i made it to the 2nd round of the purple onion designs creative team call. now those of us that are finalists will be sent some purple onion stamps and we will have 2 weeks to make some new projects. after we send in the projects the team will be chosen. you can see the list of who made it to the 2nd round here. and here's a card i made a while ago with a purple onion designs stamp. it was in the april/may issue of paper trends magazine.
