back to the drawing board

my summer vacation is over. i officially begin work again tomorrow. and since i'm back to work tomorrow i figured i'd share this project that i made for scenic route with the appleton collection. i bought the wood box like 2 years ago and never got around to do anything with it. the right after i finished this project i went to one of the local craft stores and they had miniature book boxes. i bought a couple, but of course i haven't done anything with them yet. i went to michael's yesterday and found tons of halloween wood stuff. the best though was a wood coffin box. perfect for my new obsession with vampires. i've been watching the blood ties series. it was on lifetime last year, but you can get it on i-tunes. it's pretty good. it's based off of the blood books by tanya huff. and i can't wait for the new hbo series, true blood, to start.

i made the card below 3 different times.
each time i added more stuff to it.
the 1st version didn't have the jewels or shadowing.
the 2nd one i added the jewels,

here's my bathroom. i ended up going with "mermaid treasure" for the wall of color. and then i repainted the rest of the walls white along with all of the trim. i still gotta do the door and built in shelves. i wanted to replace the fixtures with silver ones. but they are glued to the wall, so that's not happening. and i have no idea what that door thing is in the wall. it doesn't open, and even if it did i wouldn't open it. it probably leads to some secret passage that i don't want to know about. or maybe the boys a long time ago hid things in there. last summer we found an old, old bottle of whiskey hidden in a crawl space. this summer we stumbled across a really freaky looking picture of the founder of the school. it actually made me jump when i rounded the corner.

for the first time ever i'm going to paint my apartment. i think i'm going to start with the bathroom tomorrow. one wall is going to be painted "blue jewel" and i'll leave the rest white. i've never painted walls before, so it's gonna be interesting.

i made a big mistake today. i went downstairs during lunchtime. just as the entire football team was walking up the hill. now i was really happy to see most of them, but that many boys coming straight from practice was pretty gross.

and finally, here's a project i did last summer. i found the clock in the 1$ bin at target. it eventually ended up in an issue of paper trends magazine.

it's been a while, like more than a month while. so i moved from my studioish apartment to a real apartment. i have a living room, a craft room, a bedrooom!!!, a kitchen, a bathroom, and even a dining area. i can't believe i survived a year in my old place.

and then i went to virginia, and then california, and then back to virginia. and i went to a couple of really awesome scrapbooking stores while on my vacation. if you are in the sacramento area be sure to stop by green tangerines. and if you are in maryland be sure to visit savage mill and stop by the queens ink. they have like a billion stamps and even their own line.

then when i got back from my trip i had to finish organizing my new place. finally finished that and now school is just about ready to start up again. the kids are back on campus for preseason sports, so it really feels like summer is about over.
