back to the drawing board

so i'm finally getting around to posting one of my projects from paper crafts 101; a special issue from paper crafts magazine. i ended up having 5 projects in the issue. i was really excited last fall when i got an email from the editor asking if i wanted to work on some projects from this magazine. it was my first experience having to make a lot of projects in a short amount of time, using specific techniques for a certain occasion. it's kind of funny because  i rarely make easter or wedding cards, and wouldn't you know it - i was asked to make 2 easter cards and a wedding card. i also made a graduation gift box and this miss you card.

so i made this a couple of weeks ago, back when i made these two halloween jars. and then i filled it up with buttons and forgot to photograph it. so here it is, finally. the papers and tag are scenic route. the buttons were just a bunch i had laying around. i can't believe i still had any of scenic route's laurel collection to use for this. i've made so many projects with it, including the necklace and box project i posted a few days ago. you can see the necklace in this month's issue of paper crafts magazine. it's probably one of my most favorite paper collections ever. i even used it on a layout sometime last year. i posted it a while ago, but you can see it here.

finally finished this project. i've been wanting to make something on a canvas for a while, but haven't had the time until now. i originally wanted to use a square canvas, but couldn't find one smaller that 12x12. so  i ended up using a 9x12 one. the flower and butterfly are chipboard shapes from scenic route, along with all of the paper. the partial quote comes from hans christian anderson..."just living is not enough," said the butterfly, "one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower."

totally forgot to post this over the weekend. so happy belated easter! this started out as a tag, but then i lost the back part. so i made a card out of it. i made the basket from felt and the eggs are petals from felt flowers.i also made this one a while ago.

while i was in dc over the weekend i found a scrapbook store and a stamp store. bought a few new things that i'll try and use before this week is up. tonite i'm going to try and finish up a project i started last week. hopefully i'll be able to post it tomorrow.

i got my easter cards all photographed and upload, so while i'm away i can still put up some posts. i hardly ever make easter cards, but last fall paper crafts magazine asked me to make a couple of easter cards for the pc 101 that just came out. so i ended up with a few extras that didn't make it into the magazine. and i just realized that one of the cards i made for the special issue is part of the sneak peak up on the website this week. here's my wedding cake card. not sure how long this will be up, so hurry and go take a look.

my projects from day 2 of glassblowing haven't arrived yet, so i thought i'd share my favorite find in the glassmarket at corning. it's called wildflower small vase. i saw it the first day and kept going back to look at it, so at the end of our stay i decided to bring it home with me. i love it! it's made by mad art. i can't seem to find a website for them. the rest of my glass pieces probably won't get here before i leave for the weekend, so i'll have to post them when i get back.

i'm back, but i'm leaving again tomorrow for dc. last week was horribly busy. i had grades to get done before taking off friday afternoon for corning. and then we spent the weekend learning glass blowing. it was a lot of fun, but i'm definitely not going to get rich off of it anytime soon. but, i going to try and keep at it. it'll get me out off campus and out into the real world, or at least brooklyn anyways. there's a studio there called urban glass and i'm gonna check it out next week. so here's what i did the first day of working with glass. and thanks to our awesome teachers peter and aaron i actually ended up with something resembling a flower. all you have to do is take a blob of molten glass and pull on it with tweezers, really big tweezers, to get this...
