back to the drawing board

ok, enough of the out of season projects. it's almost march, so the next issue of paper crafts magazine will be coming out soon. they sent out the weekly email newsletter yesterday and finally one of my projects was featured in it. the instructions for the necklace, card, and box are online here, but the picture doesn't show the necklace. i'm thinking maybe it will be in the magazine. i think i have one other project in the upcoming issue - i'm pretty sure it was for the joy of card making column. and lastly, paper crafts 101 comes out this tuesday. i'm really excited about seeing this special issue. i have 5 projects in it and it was my first multi-project assignment with them.

and another halloween project. this one was really quick, but a bit messy. the lid on the wood box was kind of tight, so if i painted the container i probably wouldn't have been able to get the lid back on. so i decided to use ink to get the container black. had ink all over my hands and my shirt, but it worked pretty well. and the ink came out of my shirt when i washed it.

and on another note, i went to the met this past week. there was this really interesting piece of art in one of the modern art galleries - a real, used to be alive, shark in formaldehyde. i just didn't know what to think of it. the batteries in my camera died, so i couldn't get a picture. it's on display for the next three years and i'm definitely getting a picture next time.

well i haven't had much time this week to work on anything...that was until today when it decided to finally snow and we had a snow day. so, i made a couple of halloween projects. i found a bunch of these glass jars at michael's last halloween. i decorated these two today. i think i like the black one the best. i also have a purple one that i think i'm going to decorate in non-halloweenish colors tomorrow.

this was the first card i made of the year - last year. and then it appeared in the january issue of cards magazine this year.

i had a ton of grading to get done this weekend, so not much time to work on any projects. i started working on some halloween - yes halloween - projects i've wanted to make for a while. magazines work 6 months ahead, so they are looking for fall projects right now. and if none of the projects are requested then at least i'll have a bunch of decorations come october. trying to decide if i should post them up here now or wait 8 months - kind of weird seeing pumpkins in february.

here's a new one. made this tonite while i was watching a movie. i found the "love" chipboard piece while i was going through some older stuff last weekend. i decided to hang on to it and use it for a valentine's day card. but, i'm a little late with that. i've been giving a lot of my extra stuff to the girls here at school. they've been making some really amazing cards.

two days in a row! but, this isn't a new one. made this one about 6 months ago for paper crafts magazine's joy of card making column in the march issue. still haven't seen it in print yet. couldn't find the issue in any of the stores last weekend, but my copies should be here next week. not like i've had time to read it anyway. and change of plans for spring break - we are going to try glass blowing instead of fusing. probably a better thing for me. if i really like glass fusing then i'll want to buy a bunch of supplies and use the big kiln downstairs in the pottery studio. i really don't have room for a bunch of glass supplies right now.

happy valentine's day! it took me almost two weeks to get this card finished. it's been almost done for like a week, but i just didn't have the time to finish the bottom row of stitching. so finally, here it is, just in time for valentine's day. i don't have much going on this weekend, so hopefully i'll have some time to make some things.
