back to the drawing board

wow - it's been a while since i've had a chance to make anything. i've had this comp book laying around for a while, so i used it for this month's product challenge on the scenic route website. this month the challenge was to use their office themed products. snd for the doodling i used a template i've had for a while. i think i'm going to use the book to keep track of all the projects i want to do, but haven't yet started. and to add to my long list of projects to work on i've decided to learn glass fusing. i'm headed to The Studio in Corning over sprig break.

so after grading the never ending stack of midterms this weekend i had time late last night to make some birthday cards. and as i was making a birthday card for one of my students i realized i had forgotten someone else's birthday that was last weekend. here's one of the birthday cards i came up with. if you want to see what the inside looks like you can see it here. the paper and chipboard rectangle came in last months kit from self-addressed. still haven't gotten to this months kit yet. and my goal for this week is to get started on my valentine's day cards. only 3 weeks away!

well i had another post all written out with a picture of a card i made last weekend. then right after i posted it i had to delete it along with the frame i posted a few days ago. i got lucky and paper crafts accepted 100% of the projects i submitted this month. but then again i only submitted 2! so, i don't have any new projects to put up today. but here's a wedding card i made that is in scrapbook trends wedding idea book. i think it came out in december, but i just saw it for this first time this week in a local store. 

here's one of my cards from the newest issue of paper crafts magazine - the february issue. this is one tall card...i think it's about 10-inches tall. when i was packing last summer i came across this really big chipboard heart from fancy pants designs. i knew i'd never use it on a layout, so i decided to make a card much bigger than one i'd ever made before. i have one more card in this issue - the how to use heat in your projects article. again, i was in the middle of packing up all of my stuff when i was asked to make something using heat. i came up with a super simple, super quick card with iron-ons.

and in other news, i've joined 2 big picture scapbooking classes. the library of memories and the handmade book club. i don't have a huge amount of pictures, and most of them are digital, so while my pile of photos is still manageable i want to get started on a good system of organization. i hope the class helps.

finally i get a break. i've been crazy busy getting kids ready for their midterms. i haven't had much free time the past week, but i did squeeze in some time to make this frame. i started with an unfinished wood frame i found at michael's, painted it silver and then added the embellishments. the silver painting turned out pretty well, it actually looks like the frame is metal. also finished all of my thank-you cards, or so i thought. a couple of kids surprised me with a gift after break, so still gotta make a few more.

i've got a few new projects to post this weekend, but i still need to take photos of them. so until then here's one of the cards i have in the newest issue of paper crafts card creations. this issue focuses on cards that are quick & easy to make. along with this birthday card i also have a christmas card in the magazine. i was surprised to see both of them in the there - i thought one of them was going to be online. and if you need some new stamps check out the purple onion designs website. the star stamp i used is from purple onion and they have a bunch of other great designs.

my goal for this card was to use exactly 2 colors - excluding neutral colors. the paper i used is a double sided one from american crafts. and i found these ki memories flower jewels that i've had forever now, and they matched pretty well.
