back to the drawing board

a few weeks ago i discovered that i own very few spring decorations - so i bought a cheap chunky wood flower at michael's and made it pretty. i took this photo to use in my project life album - i've been using the camera+ app and instagram for about 99.9% of the photos that are going into the album.

a couple of cross stitch designs that have been a work in progress for a while. i started this one last winter and recently finished it up. the pattern i used is an old one from heart in hand - bounding bunny - and framed measures 10 x 7.

 

and this one i finished last year but didn't get around to framing it until now. this design is by raise the roof designs and framed measures 15 x 11. right now i'm working on the uncle sam design that is part of this clothesline seris. hoping it'll be done before july.

a simple birthday card i made for the jane's doodles blog this week. boris the bunny is a digital stamp which i scaled down to about 2-inches wide, printed, colored, and cut. the rest of the card is my usual scallop border, machine stitching and a stamped sentiment. i've been keeping my cards fairly simple and easy to mail as i'll be sending off most of my design team cards to operation write home as soon as i have a full box.

a quick card i made for the jane's doodles blog. i used a small heart stamp from one of the new stamp sets - just stamped it a few times and then pieced it together.

thank-you jane beljo! i was asked to be the guest designer for jane's newest digital stamp release - retro tulips. you can find retro tulips, along with many of jane's other doodles, over at squigglefly. to create my card i resized the retro tulips image to about 3-inches tall and printed it on the white card base. then i printed the image two more times, once on green paper and then again on a page torn from an old dictionary. before gluing down the tulip pieces i sprayed the flower portion with glimmer mist - i tried to get the glimmer to show up in a photo but it just wasn't happening.

and here's the bunny card that ended up in the march issue of scrapbook trends magazine. you know those flat wood shapes they sell at the craft store for like 50cents -- well i traced one of those on to cardstock to make the card base. if i remember correctly the bunny stands about 5" tall.

here's my second shot at the current moxie fab world challenge - picking up the pieces. this past week i was introduced to some very easy to use digital stamps by jane beljo which can be found over at squigglefly. boris the bunny here is one of my favorites by jane. to make mr. boris pop off of the canvas a bit i glued the printed image onto chipboard before cutting out. then i pieced him together, along with the grass, that is also part of the digital stamp. i added my own flower instead of using the ones that he comes with and used a page torn from an old dictionary, that i inked up and then sprayed with glimmer mist, for background.

when i got home the other night from the copic markers class i was a bit tired of coloring. but since i had just bought all of these new markers - oh and the air-brush attachment as well - i just had to do something with them that night. so i airbrushed a piece of paper blue. i know, not very exciting. but i was mostly just trying to get used to how the thing works. the paper that i air-brushed is a page torn from an old book of kids stories i found a few months back. and the frame you can probably still find at michael's.

 no, not wishful thinking. i'm totally happy that it is fall and not spring. although if it were spring we would only have 8 more weeks of school instead of 22 more weeks. so anyway, the reason for a spring card...two cards i made a while ago  ended up in  paper crafts magazines newest book called a card a day. here's the spring one and the birthday one you can see on the paper crafts connection blog. supply lists for both cards can be found in book.

here's my card for the most recent challenge on the moxie fab blog. the challenge was to make an encouragement card that has a rainy day item on it. so i stamped an umbrella and then cut out the inside part of it so that there is a window to the inside of the card. and  i added glossy accents to it to make it shiny. the umbrella and the sentiment are both from the rain & flowers stamp set by unity stamp company.

here's another one for mom's day. even though it's monday now where i am, it's ok to post this card since it's still sunday where my mom is.

happy mother's day!

i'm way ahead of schedule this year - already thinking about mother's day. the "M" is from the homegrown hospitality alphabet and the flowers are from the doodle flowers sentiment set both by purple onion designs . i made a matching card too, but not going to share it til mother's day. and, this just happens to fit the current challenge going on over at the paper crafts blog. hopefully i'll get a chance to make a few other things for the challenge some time this week. probably going to try and make a card set.

and another easter card. stamps are by purple onion designs, of course. i used the egg from the celebitties set and the sentiment is from the celebitties sentiment set. i've got one more easter card to share and i hope i don't forget to post it on sunday.
